![]() Pollard, billed as "the rat man", get third billing but nothing really to do. Kim Cattrall gets the Miranda Richardson "Crying Game"/Uma Thurman "Pulp Fiction" wig, but her character is nowhere near as fascinating as those two. Rutger Hauer does what he can to create a hard-boiled, brooding hero, dealing with the presence of the serial killer who has been released from prison as well as an alleged slimy monster. The film deals with an apocalyptic world that seems to have the dead coming back as monsters, somehow having rat DNA now in there zombie system, and threatening to turn London into the disease capital of the world. While the shots of a futuristic London nearly underwater are a good visual effect, that doesn't necessarily make for a good movie because there is so much suspense that takes forever to really be dealt with.
